 Rice is the most consumed food and a defining part of Thai cuisine. In fact, this grain is such an important part of the local culture, that “Gin kôw rĕu yang?” (“Have you consumed rice yet?”) is a popular greeting in Thailand. Did you know Thais do not put big servings of food on their plate all at once? They begin with a portion of rice and gradually make their way around the other dishes.
